YES.. it’s official now!
After proving its worth by being a key producer of world class laptops, Apple has launched the all new iPhone specifically made for the funky Indian consumer. One look at the pic and it says all! and what’s more.. it comes with a range of attractive features at just $199. Isn’t that unbelievable! just too good to be true.

i am impressed with APPLE, and surely buy one whenever it will be launched, its just ~8000 Bucks (INR).

The phone will not be $199 in the indian market, expect it to be anywhere between 15K-20K, that price is only, i repeat only for the US market with AT&T Lock-in subscription and hence turns out to be almost as much as a stand alone iphone($399) cause of the lock-in period and AT&T rentals.
Uttam Kumar what are you concerned about. iPhone uses iTunes to sync data and transfer music and pics from your computer and hence it doesn’t matter whether you have Vista or XP or NT or MAC or any monkey OS, hope that is clear. iPhone doesn’t support file transfer via bluetooth to any other phone so if that is a problem then you should be concerned, it’s not that it doesnt have it, it has it but apple hasn’t activated it, cause they think it will reduce their iTunes music sales. When iPhone was launched a lot of people cried foul that it doesnt have a videorecorder, but now the community has launched a video recorder and a few people are working on trying to activate the bluetooth feature as well, which will happen eventually.
It is the best phoen you will ever lay your hands on, i bought it for 28K when it was launched, I have 9 pages of applications/games on it that would make it close to 100 applications and games, it has a NES emulator, SNES emulator, Gameboy emulator, PS emulator, so that makes the number of games you can play virtually “drop till die but the games list wont finish”. Applications that can do virtually anything under the sun. Gauge your walking and play music accordingly as per your walking speed, a fully funtional ipod, picture editing softwares, pdf, word, excel readers, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi, Lock your applications with softwares, call logs, history managers and deleters, mail(yahoo, gmail, aol, etc etc) sync with outlook, sync your contacts with your PC, play high definition movies, play You Tube, Radio channels(unlimited channels you cant even count), the list is un-ending.
I say even if the thing costs 20k eventually or maybe less if we are lucky enough it is a thing to buy

true the $199 price tag will not apply to India, it would not even apply to US, as that is not tax inclusive. but i wont go so far to reckon it would be around 15- 20k bracket, that would be over 200% the base price.
i think more than the price, i think its the availabilty that should be the concern. Apple only expects to sell 10million phones this year. that itself would be a record of sorts, but fact - Apple sold over 6 million iPhones in just 6 countries at a price of $399. at $200 lesser, in 70 countries, one should expect to sell a far greater number - considering the fact taht those 6 countries did not include the largest mobile markets in the world India, China, Russia or even Australia !
In India, i expect it to cost around 12-15k tops, to have a launch date around September. bookings are already open, but who are the few going to get these few phones?
I am sure all freaky user’s for the gadgets like this one make it on the top sale..!!! Go for it………..!!!!
Steve Jobs in his keynote address specifically mentioned that the price tag of 199$ is universal, be it any country the price will be the same. so if that is to be believed I guess it should be available in between 8K-9K tag.

hey guys i noticed a lot of debate regarding the price of the phone. well let me clear up some things for you.
1.the phone is universally priced at us$ 199 for 8 gb and us$299 for 16 gb
this was confirmed by steve jobs in the wwdc june 08 during the unraveling of the iphone
2. however that rate is for the phone along with the connection with a local carrier(in our country its vodafone) , however the partners of apple in the varied countries have been given clear cut instructions to sell the iphone not more tha 199 and 299 us$ respectively.
i hope i cleared certain doubts.

Official without contract unlocked I-Phone will be available in US from apple itself i’ll cost 299$ for 8GB & 399$ for 16GB…
Hey,there’s no use of buying the unlocked version 4 $299(8GB) coz it’s easily unlocked by any mobile mechanic(specially at nehru place,delhi)….in India,vodafone would launch it @ around 20k coz it has to pay apple also…but some guy above said that steve jobs has given clear instructions to it’s partners to launch it at $199 only….so,lets see when it’s launched in india
